Halma plc is a British global group of safety equipment companies specializing in products for hazard detection, life protection, healthcare, and environmental analysis, headquartered in Amersham, England. Founded in 1894 originally as a tea estate in Sri Lanka, it evolved through rubber production before nationalization, transforming into an investment holding company in 1956 and focusing on acquisitions in engineering sectors from the 1970s onward. Today, it operates across three main sectors: Safety, providing fire and smoke detectors; Healthcare, offering medical equipment; and Environmental & Analysis, including water treatment and analysis tools. With around 45 decentralized operating businesses and approximately 9,000 employees, Halma plc emphasizes niche markets with limited competition, generating over 75% of sales in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
