Ørsted A/S is a Danish multinational energy company specializing in renewable energy development and operations. Formerly known as DONG Energy, it focuses on constructing and managing offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms, renewable hydrogen facilities, energy storage systems, green fuels, and bioenergy plants. Headquartered in Fredericia, Denmark, Ørsted leads globally as the largest developer of offshore wind power, accounting for about 30% of the world's installed capacity outside mainland China. In 2023, its generation capacities included 17,761 GWh from offshore wind, 13,374 GWh from onshore sources, and 4,437 GWh from bioenergy. The company operates in key markets such as Denmark, the UK, Germany, the US, Taiwan, and New Zealand, producing 90% of its energy from renewables with goals of 99% by 2025 and net-zero generation by the same year. Ørsted also advances carbon capture initiatives, like the Kalundborg CCS hub targeting 500,000 tons of CO2 annually by late 2025. As Denmark's biggest power producer with 49% electricity market share, it plays a pivotal role in the global shift to sustainable energy.
